Akola operates in 9 communities in Uganda and Dallas to serve over 400 women.
In Uganda, Akola works with women who are subsistence farmers that live in rural poverty and have never been educated. Many are widowed and are the sole caretakers of their families. They have survived the HIV/AIDS crisis, a 20-year civil war, and displacement.
In Dallas, Akola works with women who have little education and no mainstream vocational skills. Some have been sexually trafficked, incarcerated, and many struggle to meet the basic needs of their families.
